Jakarta, July 16, 2024 – IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) once again supported the Jakarta Red Cross Blood Transfusion Unit (UTD) in addressing the decreasing blood supply by organizing the IPC TPK Blood Donation Program at the Indonesian Maritime Museum Hall, Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta. The previous blood donation event held by IPC TPK in late February was attended by 115 participants and successfully collected 100 blood bags.

“Blood donation is a genuine social action. It requires sympathy and a big heart to give a part of ourselves to others in dire need. On the occasion of IPC TPK’s 11th anniversary, we aim to foster a sense of care for others through blood donation,” said Guna Mulyana, President Director of IPC TPK.

This marks the second time IPC TPK has organized the Blood Donation Program in 2024. IPC TPK has consistently focused on the social action of blood donation, organizing these events for the past five years.

The enthusiasm of participants in IPC TPK’s blood donation activities is very high. Over 120 participants, including Pelindo Group employees, cleaning staff, security personnel of Tanjung Priok Port, and several participants from other institutions, registered for this event and managed to collect 90 blood bags in just three hours.

“This is my first blood donation. Thankfully, IPC TPK organized this event at the Port area, so I could donate blood while working. Previously, I tried five times to participate in blood donation but didn’t pass. Hopefully, this will benefit those in need,” said Warni, a cleaning staff at the Port.

According to Dr. Sibrohmalisi, M.A.R.S., Acting Chairman of PMI DKI Jakarta, as quoted on Kompas.com, Jakarta requires 1,000-1,200 blood bags daily. However, the PMI DKI Jakarta blood stock as of Tuesday (July 16) was only 395 bags. Therefore, to meet the daily blood stock needs, PMI schedules several blood donation activities each day, including in offices and institutions in the capital city.

“The enthusiasm of today’s donors exceeded our expectations. The number of blood bags prepared was also fulfilled. We hope this activity positively impacts those in need of blood supplies and that donors become healthier by donating blood,” concluded Guna.
