Jakarta, February 21, 2025 – IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK), a subsidiary of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, supports the smooth distribution of goods to the IKN area by facilitating the inaugural voyage from Terminal 009, Tanjung Priok 1, to Balikpapan – Samarinda. This service route is operated by Indo Container Line with MV Icon Efesus 17, which berthed at TPK 009, Tanjung Priok 1, IPC TPK, on Saturday (8/2). This marks the third new service route launched by IPC TPK in early 2025.
“This service strengthens Indonesia’s logistics sector in East Kalimantan and serves as an alternative shipping route from Jakarta to the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara and Samarinda,” said Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary & External Relations of IPC TPK.
The launch of this inaugural service aims to create an efficient logistics ecosystem to support the government’s success in developing IKN as a modern and sustainable capital city. Additionally, this service provides an alternative option to meet the consumption needs of communities in Balikpapan and Samarinda.
From an operational perspective, IPC TPK continues to implement continuous improvements to enhance loading and unloading productivity through both soft and hard infrastructure developments. These operational optimizations not only deliver efficient services but also create opportunities to increase container traffic. This is evident from a 23.20% increase in container traffic in January 2025 compared to the same period last year.
According to data from BPS Balikpapan, the value of non-oil and gas imports reached USD 160.94 million in September 2024, marking a 5.27% increase from the previous period. This highlights East Kalimantan’s strong potential as a trade destination.
MV Icon Efesus 17, with a LOA of 98 meters and a beam of 16 meters, will sail the Jakarta – Balikpapan – Samarinda route after berthing at TPK 009, Tanjung Priok 1, IPC TPK. The vessel is scheduled to call at the port on a weekly basis.

This collaboration opens opportunities to expand trade connectivity and accelerate the distribution of goods, catering to the needs of service users in shipping goods to East Kalimantan and its surrounding areas,” Pramestie concluded.
