Jakarta, February 24, 2025 – IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK), a subsidiary of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, conducted fire hazard mitigation training for residents across seven community units (RW) in Papanggo, Tanjung Priok, as part of the 2025 National Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Month commemoration. The training educated residents on fire causes and the proper use of fire extinguishers (APAR), with instruction provided by firefighters from the Papanggo Fire Department.
“Papanggo is located very close to Tanjung Priok Port. We recognize that fire hazards could disrupt loading and unloading activities at the port. In the spirit of K3 Month, we aim to raise awareness among residents to help protect their environment from fire risks while also encouraging community participation in ensuring the smooth operation of the port as a vital national asset,” said Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary of IPC TPK.
A total of 62 residents and community representatives participated in the training, which was held at the RW 5 office in Papanggo. In addition to the educational session, IPC TPK also provided Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance, donating 55 gas regulators to residents and seven fire extinguishers (APAR) for placement in each of the seven RW offices.
Papanggo, located in the Tanjung Priok District of North Jakarta, is a densely populated area. According to data from the North Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2019, Papanggo had a population of 50,305, with a density of approximately 17,966 people per square kilometer. Due to its high population density and compact housing conditions, Papanggo is considered vulnerable to fire and flood risks. Therefore, it is crucial for the community to enhance prevention and mitigation efforts against these potential hazards.

This initiative aligns with the Jakarta Provincial Government’s programs, including the Environmental Fire Safety System (SKKL), which aims to increase community participation in fire prevention and mitigation, and the Community Fire Extinguisher Ownership Movement (GEMPAR), which promotes early fire response. These efforts are expected to minimize fire impacts before firefighters arrive on the scene.
