Jakarta, 5 May 2026 – Behind the high volume of loading and unloading activities at container terminals, occupational safety stands as a non-negotiable aspect. For IPC Container Terminal (IPC TPK), productive and reliable operations can only be achieved when all work activities are carried out with a strong safety culture upheld by every member of the port community, including the business partners who operate within the terminal area on a daily basis.
That commitment was affirmed by IPC TPK through the Sharing Session: Safety Awareness 2026, held in a hybrid format at the Hall of the Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok Branch Building (30/4). Carrying the theme “The Role of Health and Behavior Based Safety in Preventing Workplace Accidents Among Office and Field Workers,” the event formed part of the company’s strategic efforts to comprehensively strengthen the culture of occupational safety within the terminal environment.
This forum served not only as a gathering of port stakeholders, but also as a momentum to align the shared awareness that occupational safety is a collective responsibility. IPC TPK holds the view that every worker present in the terminal area, whether internal employees or partners from stevedoring companies, plays an important role in keeping port operations safe and smooth.
The President Director of IPC TPK, Guna Mulyana, emphasized that no operational achievement is worth the risk of losing a life to a workplace accident. According to him, safety must be the top priority in every terminal operational activity. “Seeing performance that continues to improve year after year, we urge all workers to keep changing their behavior so as to prioritize safety and care more about working conditions. We work for no other reason than to arrive safely and return home safely,” said Guna.
He added that workplace accidents not only cause moral and material losses, but can also directly disrupt the terminal’s operational activities and the port’s logistics chain. For this reason, the company continues to push for a stronger safety culture so that it becomes a habit and a collective awareness among all parties working in the terminal area.
With operational activities running 24 hours a day and involving heavy equipment as well as high mobility, IPC TPK regards the Behavior Based Safety (BBS) approach as an important step in building work behavior that is more disciplined, alert, and mindful of work-related risks.
Present as the main resource person, Occupational Health Expert dr. Muhammad Ilyas, Sp. OK, highlighted the importance of behavioral change in reducing the number of workplace accidents in the port environment. He explained that most work incidents are triggered by unsafe behavior, low awareness of risks, and conditions of work fatigue that workers often fail to recognize.
According to him, the application of fatigue management, a healthy lifestyle, and increased safety awareness are important factors in minimizing human error in the operational activities of container terminals, which carry a high level of risk.
The event was attended by the Executive General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, Yandri Trisaputra, stevedoring company partners, and the management ranks of IPC TPK. The presence of these stakeholders reflects the importance of collaboration in building a stronger and more sustainable safety culture within the port environment.
Through Safety Awareness 2026, IPC TPK affirmed its commitment to continuously promoting a safety culture as the principal foundation of the company’s operations. The company believes that a productive terminal can only be created when all workers are able to carry out their activities in a safe, healthy, and secure manner.
“Going forward, our hope is that, together, let us make improvements to continue prioritizing safety, for both field workers and back office staff,” Guna concluded.
