Bandar Lampung, 16 May 2026 – IPC Container Terminal (IPC TPK) Panjang Area continues to strengthen its loading and unloading infrastructure in order to increase service capacity and support the smooth flow of logistics in the Southern Sumatra region. One of these strategic steps was realized through the addition of one Quay Container Crane (QCC) unit of the Post Panamax type, which arrived at Panjang Port aboard the MV Zheng Hua 37 from China.
The arrival of this new crane is part of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas’ investment program to support the increase in loading and unloading capacity and productivity at the terminal. With this additional equipment, IPC TPK Panjang Area now has a total of four QCC units ready to strengthen vessel services and container flow at the terminal. This strategic step was taken in order to respond to the surge in container flow volume, which grew significantly by 24% last year.
The Manager of IPC TPK Panjang Area, Anang Subagyono, affirmed that the addition of the QCC is part of the company’s efforts to enhance the port’s competitiveness while strengthening the national logistics chain in the Lampung region and its surroundings.
“The addition of this Post Panamax QCC is a strategic step to increase the terminal’s service capacity and productivity. We want to ensure that IPC TPK Panjang is able to meet the needs of service users in line with the increasing logistics activity and container flow in the Southern Sumatra region,” said Anang while inspecting the arrival of the equipment.
This capacity increase is in line with the growth in IPC TPK Panjang’s container flow, which continues to show a positive trend. Throughout 2025, the terminal recorded a container flow of 128,675 TEUs, or growth of around 24% compared to 2024, which reached 103,700 TEUs.
The giant crane arrived at Panjang Port, transported aboard the MV Zheng Hua 37 from China, on Thursday (14/5). With this fleet addition, IPC TPK Panjang Area now has a total of 4 QCC units ready to optimize loading and unloading services at this main logistics gateway of the Southern Sumatra region.
Technically, this Post Panamax QCC has the advantage of an outreach of 45 meters with a reach of 16 to 17 rows of containers. These specifications enable the port to serve vessels of greater capacity more efficiently.
After the MV Zheng Hua 37 berths, the technical team will carry out the rolling-off process, or the lowering of the crane onto the terminal quay. Before being fully operated, this equipment will go through a series of stages, ranging from system installation and load testing (commissioning test) to integration with the terminal operating system (TOS).
Anang added that this infrastructure investment is projected to become a catalyst for regional economic growth. “The arrival of this Post Panamax QCC unit marks a new chapter of modernization at Panjang Port. We want to ensure that the infrastructure we have is not only able to support the current trend of operational growth, but is also ready to become a key catalyst for economic growth and the smooth flow of national logistics in the Lampung region and its surroundings,” concluded Anang.
