Jakarta, December 20, 2024 – As 2024 draws to a close, IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK), a subsidiary of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Subholding, has once again recorded growth in cargo volume across its operational areas, reaching 280,509 TEUs—an increase of 15.50% compared to the same period last year, which recorded 242,862 TEUs. Cumulatively, container handling from January to November 2024 reached 2,885,249 TEUs, up 8.6% from 2,656,646 TEUs in the same period of the previous year.

“To anticipate the surge in cargo traffic towards the end of the year, we are ensuring readiness from an operational standpoint, optimizing traffic flow management within and outside the port, monitoring weather conditions, and maintaining close communication with port stakeholders to ensure smooth loading and unloading operations,” said Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary & External Relations of IPC TPK.

The growth in container throughput was driven by several factors, including increased container volumes in the Palembang area and the rise in export loads for commodities such as cassia vera (up 470.59%), gambier (up 200%), cocoa (up 100%), and perlite (up 550%) in West Sumatra. Additionally, there was a 10.38% increase in full-load shipments from Jakarta to Teluk Bayur.
