Jakarta, February 27, 2025 – IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK), a subsidiary of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, recorded an increase in container handling performance in January 2025. This growth was driven by rising export values of non-oil and gas commodities (such as rubber, pulp, and fertilizers) and agricultural products (including coffee, bananas, and black pepper) shipped from various regions in Sumatra.

“The total container throughput across all operational areas reached 280,743 TEUs in January 2025, marking a 23.2% increase compared to 227,885 TEUs in the same period last year. Alongside this throughput growth, the number of vessel calls in January 2025 also rose by 5.9% to 412 ships, compared to 389 ships in the previous year,” said Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary & External Relations of IPC TPK.

According to the National Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia’s export value in January 2025 reached USD 21.45 billion, an increase of 4.68% from USD 20.52 billion in January 2024. Additionally, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of USD 3.45 billion in January 2025, up from USD 2.24 billion in December 2024. This reflects a significant year-over-year increase in Indonesia’s export performance.

The container throughput achievement in January 2025 was a result of strong collaboration among stakeholders. IPC TPK’s operational transformation not only enhances service effectiveness and efficiency but also ensures the readiness of all operational equipment to handle specific conditions, such as surges in cargo volume.

Several factors contributed to IPC TPK’s container volume growth, including increased throughput in Tanjung Priok and Pontianak, a rise in commodity shipments from southern Sumatra, and higher domestic cargo volumes in the Teluk Bayur area.

“We consistently implement operational service transformations to ensure customer satisfaction, smooth logistics flow, and national supply chain efficiency, even during the extended holiday period at the end of January,” Pramestie concluded.
