Pontianak, May 5, 2025 – IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) Pontianak welcomes the launch of a new service by PT Pelayaran Sukses Sindo Damai (PSSD), which opens a strategic route connecting Pontianak – Panjang – Singapore. This new route marks a significant step in expanding West Kalimantan’s logistics connectivity with national and international trade hubs.

The barge BG LL MASSIE, accompanied by tugboat TB LL Syukur, served as the maiden vessel for this service. The vessel docked at IPC TPK Pontianak on Friday (May 2) with a total of 215 TEUs of containers for loading and unloading activities before continuing its journey to Panjang Port the next day.

“This service adds to our fleet and opens up new market opportunities for exporters, particularly in Pontianak and West Kalimantan,” said M. Loutfie Hidayat, Manager of IPC TPK Pontianak Area.

In the first quarter of 2025, IPC TPK Pontianak recorded a performance of 64,309 TEUs, a 6% increase compared to the first quarter of 2024, which saw 60,633 TEUs. This achievement also surpassed the 2025 target set by shareholders by over 1.5% in Q1 2025. The increase in throughput reflects improved operational efficiency and higher cargo volumes, directly contributing to the growth of logistics flow in Pontianak and West Kalimantan.

From an operational perspective, in early 2025, IPC TPK Pontianak continued its service transformation by establishing an Integrated Planning & Control Room. This facility digitally integrates terminal operations, pilotage, safety and traffic monitoring, and vessel traffic, supporting high efficiency and cross-stakeholder coordination at the port. IPC TPK Pontianak Area’s terminal services operate 24/7 and are supported by a scheduled maintenance program for loading-unloading equipment and the planned rejuvenation of yard facilities. Additionally, IPC TPK Pontianak has implemented electrification on its container handling equipment, RMGC. This initiative is designed to deliver optimal services and respond to the evolving logistics demands.

The Singapore–Pontianak–Panjang shipping route will operate regularly once a week, offering a more reliable transportation option for import-export businesses in western Indonesia.

“We hope this new service becomes a catalyst for trade growth and facilitates smoother export-import flows from West Kalimantan to national and global markets,” added Loutfie.
