Jakarta, February 4, 2026 – IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) continues to strengthen its commitment to creating a safe, resilient, and sustainable port environment. Efforts to build a secure port area are not only carried out within operational zones but also by engaging surrounding communities.
Through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, IPC TPK organized an Emergency Fire Response Training for residents of Warakas Subdistrict, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, held in commemoration of National Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) Month 2026.
Warakas Subdistrict is a densely populated area directly adjacent to the Tanjung Priok Port area and has a relatively high potential fire risk. Recognizing this condition, IPC TPK took preventive steps by equipping residents with basic emergency response skills, enabling swift initial action before risks escalate.
A total of 50 participants representing 14 Neighborhood Associations (RW), youth organizations (Karang Taruna), PPSU personnel, Babinsa, PKK members, and other village officials took part in the training, which was conducted in collaboration with the Tanjung Priok Subdistrict Fire and Rescue Sector. During the program, participants received materials ranging from fire prevention theory, identification of fire sources, hands-on practice using portable fire extinguishers (APAR), to small-scale fire suppression simulations.
As a tangible form of support for community preparedness, IPC TPK provided assistance in the form of 5 new APAR units and refilled 33 APAR units owned by residents, ensuring the community has independent firefighting equipment that can be used in emergency situations.
“Surrounding communities are an important part of the port ecosystem. When residents have the knowledge and preparedness to handle fires, risks can be minimized and the environment becomes safer for all parties. Safety is a shared responsibility, and collaboration between companies, government, and residents is key to creating a resilient area,” said Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary of IPC TPK.
Support for the activity was also conveyed by Sumarno, Acting Head of the Fire and Rescue Sector of Tanjung Priok Subdistrict.
“We hope that with the training and understanding provided today, the number of fire incidents in Warakas can decrease, so the community becomes increasingly prepared and responsive in facing emergency situations,” he said.
The event was attended by Sri Diana Tungga Dewi, Head of Warakas Subdistrict, as a form of synergy between the local government and the company in strengthening community environmental safety.
Through this training, IPC TPK encourages the emergence of safety champions at the community level who can disseminate knowledge and continuously build a culture of safety awareness within their respective neighborhoods.
This TJSL program also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities, by strengthening community preparedness against fire and disaster risks around the port area.
Going forward, IPC TPK will continue to deliver TJSL programs focused on enhancing community capacity and strengthening collaboration with local stakeholders as part of its commitment to building port areas that are not only productive but also safe and sustainable.
