Bandar Lampung, June 25, 2026 – Container traffic at Panjang Container Terminal continued to show strong growth through May 2026. PT IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) recorded a 7.40 percent increase in container throughput compared with the same period last year.
During the January–May 2026 period, the terminal handled 50,287 TEUs, up from 46,824 TEUs in the corresponding period of 2025. The increase reflects the growing logistics and trade activities facilitated through Panjang Container Terminal.
Daniel Setiawan, Senior Manager of Corporate Secretariat at IPC TPK, said the achievement demonstrates the continued growth in cargo movement driven by increasing distribution and trade activities across Lampung and its surrounding regions.
“The throughput growth at Panjang Area, which exceeded IPC TPK’s overall national growth rate, highlights the terminal’s strategic role in supporting the smooth flow of logistics and trade in Lampung. We remain committed to maintaining reliable services to ensure that the needs of our customers are met efficiently and effectively,” Daniel said.
The increase in throughput was primarily supported by the strong performance of several key export commodities. Tapioca starch exports recorded the highest growth at 267.37 percent, followed by frozen shrimp (28.90 percent), pineapple (22.93 percent), and refined glycerine (21.90 percent) compared with the same period in the previous year.
Both domestic and international container traffic also recorded positive growth. As of May 2026, domestic throughput reached 28,163 TEUs, representing a 10.04 percent year-on-year increase, while international throughput totaled 22,124 TEUs, up 4.21 percent from the same period last year.
Trade data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Lampung Province also reflected the region’s positive economic momentum. In April 2026, Lampung’s exports reached US$504.59 million, representing a 43.29 percent increase compared with April 2025. Imports also grew significantly, reaching US$172.40 million, up 51.56 percent year-on-year. The expansion of trade activity has contributed directly to higher logistics demand and increased container movements through Panjang Container Terminal.
The strong performance of Panjang Area also supported IPC TPK’s overall national growth. Through May 2026, IPC TPK handled 1.49 million TEUs, representing a 6.1 percent increase compared with the same period last year. With 7.4 percent cumulative growth, Panjang Area ranked as the company’s second fastest-growing operational area during the first five months of 2026.
As the primary container terminal in Lampung Province, IPC TPK Panjang continues to strengthen its operational services through enhanced coordination with key stakeholders, including shipping lines and customers. These efforts are aimed at maintaining service reliability amid rising logistics and trade activities.
