Jakarta, June 27, 2024 – IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) Jambi Area has once again facilitated small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in reaching global markets through the export of split betel nut. In this export event, IPC TPK managed the shipment of containers holding 37,200 kg of split betel nut from PT Alfa Indo Asia to Bangladesh on June 21. Previously, in September 2023, IPC TPK Jambi also facilitated the export of 18,000 kg of split betel nut sent by CV Indo Kara to Bangladesh.

“As a container terminal operator in the Jambi region, IPC TPK fully supports efforts to boost the economy, especially in Jambi Province, through export activities, specifically the split betel nut commodity,” said Wedhar Tani Aji, Manager of IPC TPK Jambi Area.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, betel nut contributes 16.7% of the total export commodities. Betel nut is one of the leading commodities in Jambi, serving as a raw material for natural dyes and having health benefits. The utilization of split betel nut is a product diversification effort to enhance the added value of betel nuts. Consequently, split betel nut plays a significant role in boosting trade both in Jambi and throughout Indonesia.

The export release event was attended by the Head of the Industry and Trade Office of Jambi Province, the Head of the Customs Office of Jambi Province, the Head of the Quarantine Office of Jambi Province, the Head of KPPBC TMP B Jambi, the President Director of PT Alfa Indo Asia, and the Commercial Team of Pelindo Regional 2 Jambi.

“We hope this strategic step will serve as a catalyst for SMEs, particularly those dealing in agricultural commodities in the Jambi region, to market their products to the global market,” concluded Wedhar.
