Jakarta, August 16, 2025 – To enliven the celebration of the 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, IPC Terminal Petikemas planted 250 trees at container terminals spread across 6 cities throughout Indonesia. This activity was carried out in support of the Tree Planting Program: High Plantation, Zero Emission organized by Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Subholding simultaneously on Friday, August 15, 2025, at all managed terminals.
IPC TPK’s Director of Finance, Human Resources & Risk Management, Yanuar Evyanto, stated that the tree-planting activity is part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program as an effort to reduce carbon footprints and decrease air pollution in container terminal areas where heavy equipment and large vehicles operate continuously 24/7.
The tree planting was carried out by IPC TPK management and employees from 6 operational areas. Employee involvement is an implementation of the Employee Social Responsibility (ESR) program, which actively engages employees in social activities both within the scope of company operations and in the community.
Greening container terminals through tree planting supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG No. 13 on climate action and SDG No. 15 on life on land. In addition to tree planting, IPC TPK has also been actively preserving marine ecosystems (SDG No. 14) through coral reef planting in Lampung waters since 2017 and mangrove planting in several Indonesian cities.
As part of efforts to reduce carbon footprints and minimize air pollution, IPC TPK has converted several cargo-handling equipment units from fossil fuels to electric power across all work areas. Operational transformation efforts to improve efficiency and shorten port stay times are also part of minimizing environmental impact.
