Jakarta, November 28, 2024 – The operational performance of IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) has continued its upward trend in Q4 of 2024. In October, IPC TPK’s 10 terminals recorded an operational performance of 304,435 TEUs, reflecting a 16.7% increase compared to the same period last year, which stood at 260,714 TEUs. This growth was driven by increased domestic container traffic in several areas such as Pontianak, Teluk Bayur, and Jambi, as well as the addition of new shipping services in the Tanjung Priok area.
Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary of IPC TPK, stated that the company has undergone operational transformations to ensure readiness in meeting the needs of service users while anticipating surges in cargo volumes and additional services.
The total container handling performance of IPC TPK as of October 2024 reached 2,604,740 TEUs, a 7.91% increase compared to the same period last year, which recorded 2,413,783 TEUs. The growth in October aligns with increased demand for certain commodities in various operational areas.
The rise in container traffic is attributed to increased demand for commodities such as flour, ceramics, and foodstuffs in the Jambi region. In Pontianak, domestic shipping activities have driven container traffic growth. Similarly, in Teluk Bayur, the increase is due to higher volumes of rubber and a rise in full container loads. Meanwhile, in the Tanjung Priok area, the addition of a new shipping line fleet has significantly boosted container traffic.
IPC TPK is committed to supporting government programs focused on enhancing self-sufficiency and efficiency. The optimization of maritime infrastructure is expected to reduce logistics costs and strengthen the national logistics network through new policies and regulations aimed at fostering a more efficient national industry.
