Bandar Lampung, November 10, 2025 – IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) continues to strengthen its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles through its marine ecosystem conservation program. A key initiative under this commitment is the coral reef planting and transplantation activities in the waters of Lampung, which have been consistently carried out since 2017. These efforts are supported by ongoing monitoring and maintenance to ensure the success of the marine conservation program.
As of 2025, IPC TPK has planted 280 coral planting units, covering a total restoration area of approximately 280 square meters across several locations in Lampung waters, including Pahawang Island, Mahitam Island, and Tegal Island. This conservation program is part of the company’s efforts to maintain coastal ecosystem balance, support marine biodiversity, and strengthen climate change mitigation.
Lampung waters were chosen due to their proximity to one of IPC TPK’s strategic operational areas—Panjang Port Container Terminal—which recorded a container throughput of 90,655 TEUs as of September 2025. This close location enables more intensive collaboration between the company, coastal communities, and local stakeholders in preserving the marine ecosystem around its operational zones.
Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary of IPC TPK, emphasized that marine conservation activities are a tangible expression of the company’s environmental pillar within its ESG framework, carried out in a sustainable manner.
“As a container terminal operator, we recognize that ocean sustainability is closely linked to the economic and social well-being of coastal communities. That’s why, since 2017, we’ve been committed to preserving underwater ecosystems through coral reef conservation,” said Pramestie.
Coral reefs play a vital role as habitats for thousands of marine species and act as natural barriers protecting coastal areas from erosion and rising sea temperatures. Through this initiative, IPC TPK contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 14: Life Below Water, which focuses on the protection and restoration of marine ecosystems.
“Planting coral reefs is not just about conservation—it’s an investment in the future of marine ecosystems and coastal communities. We want to ensure that our operational activities are in harmony with nature,” she added.
This conservation program also brings socio-economic benefits to local communities, including through collaboration with local groups and customers who participate in the planting activities. This synergy not only amplifies environmental impact but also fosters collective awareness of the importance of protecting the ocean as a shared source of life.
Through this initiative, IPC TPK reaffirms its role as part of a green port ecosystem—one that prioritizes not only operational efficiency but also environmental sustainability and the well-being of surrounding communities.
