Jakarta, 12 December 2025 – Container scanning equipment at IPC Terminal Petikemas’ Terminal Operation 3 (TER3) and Terminal Mustika Alam Lestari (TMAL) has been officially launched. The presence of this scanning equipment is part of efforts to accelerate cargo inspection processes and to support the implementation of a modern, technology-based customs system. The launch was marked by an inauguration ceremony attended by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, at IPC TPK Terminal Operation 3, Tanjung Priok.
“The new scanner at Terminal 3 is already equipped with a radiation portal monitor. This equipment can detect hazardous and radioactive materials without opening containers. The inspection process is fast, accurate, and safe. The impact is immediate: enhanced security, shorter service times, and violations can be prevented from the outset,” said Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia.
The development of the container scanning equipment went through a series of stages, starting from site determination, construction and development, socialization, to a series of operational trials at the terminal. The scanning equipment is jointly implemented and utilized by TER3 and TMAL.
The legal basis for the implementation of the scanning equipment is stipulated in Regulation of the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia Number 109/PMK.04/2020 on Customs Areas and Temporary Storage Facilities, Article 18 paragraph (1) letter f, which mandates operators of Temporary Storage Facilities (TPS) to provide and maintain scanning equipment in accordance with the characteristics of imported or exported goods.
The introduction of this container scanning equipment provides strategic benefits for service improvement, including accelerating and enhancing the efficiency of inspection processes, improving the quality and transparency of customs services, strengthening early detection systems against potential smuggling, reducing human intervention in inspections, and reinforcing international confidence in Indonesia’s logistics processes.
