Palembang, October 31, 2025 – The operational performance of container terminals in South Sumatra Province showed an increase from January to September 2025. IPC TPK Palembang Area recorded a 5.65% growth compared to the same period in 2024. The terminal’s operational performance reached 89,655 TEUs in January–September 2025, up from 84,862 TEUs in the previous period.

“The transformation we have implemented at the terminal is not only about improving operational performance, but also about creating added value for logistics efficiency, strengthening export competitiveness, and driving sustainable regional economic growth,” said Agustian Chandra, Area Manager of IPC TPK Palembang.

The commodities that contributed most to the operational growth in September 2025 compared to September 2024 include wood products (up 25.1%), rubber (up 6.6%), and coconut (up 1.1%). Despite the rising price of rubber, demand for the commodity continued to increase, boosting export production. The rerouting of rubber cargo from Belawan to Palembang also contributed to this growth.

This positive achievement was made possible through effective vessel scheduling, proper resource management, and efficient vessel service operations according to the port’s planning system. In addition, IPC TPK Palembang Area has maintained strong coordination between management and stakeholders in the Palembang region, resulting in optimal operational performance.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of South Sumatra Province, the province’s trade balance for the period of January–August 2025 recorded a surplus of USD 3,550.79 million. The export value during that period reached USD 4,251.69 million, while the import value was USD 700.90 million.

“Our next step is to strengthen collaboration with all stakeholders so that Palembang Terminal becomes increasingly competitive, resilient, and able to serve as a key hub within both national and regional supply chains,” concluded Agustian.
