Jakarta, August 16, 2024 – IPC Terminal Petikemas handled a throughput of 293,795 TEUs in July 2024, marking an 11.6% increase compared to the 263,225 TEUs recorded in June. The rise in container volume was driven by an increase in vessel calls and the amount of cargo carried by these vessels. Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary of PT IPC Terminal Petikemas, stated that the container volume in July 2024 comprised 77,570 TEUs of international containers and 216,225 TEUs of domestic containers.
“Optimizing and transforming the terminal while providing services tailored to our customers’ needs are key steps we’ve taken to boost container throughput in the early second half of 2024,” said Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary of IPC TPK.
IPC TPK is striving to enhance terminal productivity through a planning and control-based service approach. This effort ensures that the terminal is prepared to handle the surge in vessel calls and the growth in cargo volume.
Throughout July 2024, the number of domestic vessel calls increased, particularly in the IPC TPK Tanjung Priok and IPC Teluk Bayur operational areas, driven by various shipping lines and the arrival of several ad hoc vessels. IPC TPK Teluk Bayur also saw a rise in cargo volume compared to the previous month.
The increase in domestic container volume was also evident at IPC TPK Jambi, where demand for commodities such as ceramics, flour, and fertilizer grew compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, as of July 2024, growth was recorded compared to the previous year for agricultural commodities in the IPC TPK Panjang area, including coffee, pineapples, pulp, crude glycerine, fresh shrimp, and rubber. This growth contributed to an increase in international container throughput.
IPC TPK continues to collaborate with stakeholders through strategic initiatives, including the launch of new services such as two feeder services to Jambi-Jakarta and Jakarta-Panjang-Oki, as well as one direct service, and by accommodating new vessels from shipping lines that are IPC TPK customers.
“Our priority is to provide efficient shipping services that meet customer expectations. Optimal loading and unloading services will enhance productivity and energy efficiency at the terminal. These positive impacts align with IPC TPK’s sustainability goals,” Pramestie concluded.
